Therapeutic approach to melasma in the management period: prevention and treatment
Abstract
Melasma is a hyperpigmentation that is characterized by dark and asymmetrical spots, being difficult to treat, which can affect the skin of pregnant women, causing impacts on their self-esteem. For this reason, this study approached the theme, having as general objective, to know the existing therapeutic approaches for the treatment and prevention of melasma in the gestational period. The specific objectives were to conceptualize melasma, presenting its causes and cutaneous manifestations; present the risk factors that determine the occurrence of melasma, point out the preventive care that can be performed to prevent and treat melasma in the gestational period. It was a research built through the literature review. It was concluded that melasma can affect the skin of most pregnant women, and the existing therapeutic forms, and possible to be used during pregnancy, include depigmenting creams, laser treatments, among other aesthetic resources.
